Read about the J.C. Baldwin Construction Company in the news. The following articles describe various coastal bluff stabilization, beach access, and landslide control projects for which we have received public recognition.
PCH bluff nearing completion

Motorists on Coast Highway were in for a rather awesome sight this week when a scaffolding eight stories high went up on the Colony Cove bluff.
If it looks like the J.C. Baldwin Co. is setting up to do a painting, well, that's partially true. The work at hand is the final touches on a $4.8 million bluff restoration project that will leave the cliff with a natural-looking sculptured appearance. "They're preparing to do the last layer of sculpture," City Engineer Bill Cameron said, describing the reason for the scaffolding. "Then they'll color it."
Work began last November on a mostly federally funded stabilization of a section of Coast Highway bluff that was declared dangerous during 1993 storms. Those same storms collapsed a stretch of bluff a quarter mile north, burying the highway in mud and debris from five homes that fell from La Ventana street.

The work is on schedule, Cameron said, and should be done in September. The Colony Cove bluff is designed to end up looking a lot like the sculptured La Ventana cliff face, which it already resembles even without the final touches.
