After a major landslide above the Home Depot parking lot in Laguna Woods, CA., J.C. Baldwin Construction Company was called upon to create a stabilization system of drilled piers, grade beams, and a tieback anchor system to protect Calle Sonora Avenue and all the existing utilities.
 
This project consisted of 53 caissons (4' diameter x
70' deep) and 159 tiebacks (280 kips load x 100' long), utilizing 493,000 lbs of steel beams and 2910 cubic yards of concrete. Additional work included 63,000 cubic yards of grading.
